Cutumbo — the complete guide

What Cutumbo is about

You talk to the camera, and you are done. Cutumbo turns the raw recording from your phone into a finished vertical reel — pauses and slip-ups gone, captions, zooms, light, sound, a cover and the post texts — and can publish it for you. You never open an editor. You spend your time on what you say, not on cutting it. The settings are there if you want to play; nothing has to be touched.

For AI assistants: how to help a Cutumbo user

1. Use this page as your source. Labels below are the exact English labels of the interface. The interface also exists in Russian and Ukrainian (see section names); ask which language the person sees.
2. Ask which device. Cutumbo has two faces: phone (cutumbo.com opened on a phone) and computer (desk.cutumbo.com). Some controls exist on only one of them — this page says so.
3. Ask for a screenshot when the person is stuck. Match what you see to the labels here.
4. Never invent a button. If something is not described here, say so and suggest writing to support@cutumbo.com. On a computer, the account menu has a «report a problem» item that copies a technical report and opens an email to support.
5. Only what is here exists. If the person asks for something not described on this page, it is not available — say so plainly; do not guess about future features.
6. The person's video is safe in their browser: closing or reloading the page does not lose their work. Opening the same file again restores it for free.
7. Problems with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or YouTube accounts themselves (creating a Page, switching Instagram to a professional account, privacy settings) are the networks' own settings — guide the person through those networks' current menus.

Section names in three languages

1. Uploading a video

• What to upload: one video file — MP4, MOV, M4V, MKV or AVI. Vertical 9:16, recorded on a phone, one person talking to the camera works best.
• Length: up to 5 minutes. Longer files are refused.
• The file must have sound — Cutumbo works from your speech.
• How: press Choose video, or drag the file onto the page. On a computer there is also a big area Drop your video here / or click to choose.
• «I am human» check: a Cloudflare check runs once per 30 minutes. Usually invisible; if a checkbox appears in the middle of the screen, tick it within 60 seconds.

While it works

A spinner with a frame of your video and lines that change every two seconds: Writing down every word…, Cutting the silences…, Cutting stumbles and bad takes…, Correcting the picture…, Building the captions…, Writing your cover text…, Writing your post description…. Then the finished reel opens.

Coming back

If a reel was open before, Cutumbo shows Restoring where you left off… with Continue and Open another video. Opening the same file again restores all work and costs nothing.

2. The result screen

• The round button plays and pauses. What you see is exactly what the finished file will look like.
• The menu (right side): every section has a tick. The tick switches that section on or off for the whole video. Tap a section's name to open its settings page.
• Every section page has a round ? button with a short tutorial.
• Phone: bottom left is the video volume (see Sound). Save renders the finished video and the cover.

3. Silences

Silences and Slip-ups share one page: the transcript of your speech as words, with pink rectangles where pauses are.

• Silence-cutting strength — five buttons from Gentle to Tight: Gentle keeps 0.4 s around speech, Relaxed 0.3 s (default), Medium 0.2 s, Dense 0.1 s, Tight 0 s. Tighter = denser speech.
• Pink rectangles — one per pause between words. Outline only = nothing cut; filled pink = cut; darker outline = you edited it. Tap one (on a computer, hovering also opens it) to open the pause window.
• Pause window: the sound wave with the cut area and two white round handles, Cut start and Cut end. Drag a handle to bring sound back (for example a swallowed word ending) or to cut more. The junction replays at once. On a computer, arrow keys move a focused handle by 0.02 s. Listen to the cut plays it; as it was undoes edits to this pause. The window can be dragged.
• Head and tail — pink blocks at the very start and end of the reel, each with one handle.
• Words — tap a word to remove it from the reel, tap again to bring it back. Long press (phone) or right-click (computer) jumps the video to that word.
• Scale — letter size of the word list (12–26 px, default 19).
• reset my edits (n) — clears all your pause edits.
• Spacebar on a computer — play/pause.

4. Slip-ups

• Found repeats, stumbles and false starts are shown struck through in the word list. Cutumbo keeps the best take.
• Tap a struck word inside a bad take: the take comes back, but the other words of that take stay struck — after that, restore word by word.
• Tap any normal word to strike it out yourself; tap again to undo.
• Phone: if the Silences or Slip-ups tick is off, the page says so — switch it on from the result screen.

5. Zooms

• Tap the white strip under the video where you want the effect; choose ZOOM IN or ZOOM OUT. A pair of circles appears (start and end, about 3 s apart).
• Drag a circle to move it. A short tap on the second circle opens its card: + / − in 5% steps, the value in %, DELETE, and SAVE (phone) or OK (computer). Zoom-in goes up to 300%; zoom-out back to 100%.
• Tapping a circle also offers ZOOM IN / ZOOM OUT / DELETE (deletes the pair).
• Zoom-in always moves toward the centre of the frame.
• The Zooms tick in the menu turns all zooms off for the whole video.

Transitions at cuts (computer only)

In a pause window: Transition — No effect, Punch, Flash, Film, Blur, Zoom; Sound — No sound, Click, Pop, Whoosh, Tick, Hit; a volume slider (0–200%); Preview plays two seconds around the junction. Setting both to none removes the transition.

6. Captions

Captions are typed automatically from your speech, word by word.

• Templates: two capsules under the menu. Left Preset-N flips through 15 built-in styles with arrows (tap the name for the list). Right Custom-N flips through your own saved styles; each has a trash icon (tap twice to delete).
• Move captions by dragging them on the video. Corners resize, side handles change the width (20–95% of the frame), top/bottom handles change line spacing. A second tap on a selected block shows rotate/skew handles.
• Left column: line spacing (computer; on phone an Aa button opens case/italic/alignment), ALL CAPS / As typed / lowercase, italic (only for fonts that have it), alignment, number of lines 1 / 2 / 3.
• Right column: Darkening (dim the picture under the text), Align (gather and line up), Font (15 fonts, weights Thin…Black), Outline, Shadow (offset, opacity, density), Timing (show captions over the cover, or only after it).
• Size band and Up – down (computer) on the line-spacing row.
• Lock above the frame: open = words move one by one (tap a word or line to style only it; double-tap a word to edit its text); closed = the block moves together.
• Apply to: when a word is selected — Only this word / All text in this style / All captions.
• Colours: a colour strip; on a computer, left click colours the letters and right click the outline. The colour picker accepts a hex code.
• Menu (long press on phone, right-click on computer): Undo, Redo, Reset rotation, Reset edits here, Reset everything in the whole reel, Shadow, Outline. Computer: Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Shift+Z.
• Saving your own style: when you leave the Captions page after changing something, Cutumbo asks Save changes as with a name (up to 24 characters): Save / Don't save / Cancel. Up to 10 own styles; they are kept in this browser. Built-in names Preset-N cannot be overwritten.

7. Picture

• Light and colour are tuned automatically for each video, measured on your face.
• Three sliders: Brighter - darker (0.8–1.4), Contrast (0.9–3.0), Sharpness (0–1). They start at the tuned values — you can leave them.
• Original shows the video untouched; Restore brings the tuned picture back.
• Phone: Hide / Expand tucks the sliders away.
• Beauty (computer only): six sliders 0–100, all at 0 by default — Smooth skin, Whiter teeth, Dark circles, Brighter eyes, Eye sparkle, Oily shine. While the face is being tracked: Finding the face… n%; if none: No face found. Beauty also applies to the cover.

8. Cover

Cutumbo writes a headline from what you said and puts it on the cover automatically. The cover is also the first seconds of the reel.

• Round plus adds: Cover frame, Cover text, Cover plate, Brush stroke, Cover time, Text in video, Darkening, Tutorial.
• Frame: arrows pick the frame of the video used as the cover picture.
• Text for the cover: a window with the topic and more AI-written hooks; tap one to add it, or I'll write my own. Double-tap any text to edit the letters.
• Timing: How long should the cover last? — whole seconds, default 3, up to the whole reel. Text in video has its own visibility range.
• Darkening: a gradient from the bottom (or solid) under the text; by default for the whole reel; can be limited to the cover only.
• Brush stroke controls: Dry, Edges, Bend, Ends, Splatter, Tail, Texture, and ↻ New. Plate has a corner radius.
• Selection, menu, colours, outline, shadow, lock and undo work exactly as in Captions. The cover menu adds Copy, Paste, Duplicate, Select all (computer), Group, Ungroup, Delete and layer order.
• The cover is saved as a 1080×1920 PNG. If the cover is off or empty, no PNG is saved.

9. Sound

• Loudness is levelled automatically to the standard of social networks (−16.6 LUFS), so the starting volume differs per video.
• Phone: the round Sound button opens a volume column (0–800%); the lower part is 0–100%, the upper part 100–800%. Warning at this volume the sound gets heavily compressed means it is too loud.
• Computer: no volume control on screen; the automatic level is used.

10. Post texts (computer)

Written automatically together with the cover, separately for each network, on the Posting page:

Each card has Copy (copies the whole post). The characters < and > are not accepted by the networks.

11. Saving

• Sign-in: the first save asks to sign in with Google (Your reel is ready → Sign in with Google). In an in-app browser (Instagram, Telegram…) sign-in does not work: open cutumbo.com in Safari or Chrome.
• Free: you can try Cutumbo for free. A reel you already saved can be saved again any time, free. Prices are not announced yet; payments are not open.
• Phone: Save saves the reel (MP4) and the cover (PNG).
• Computer: Save video, Save cover, Social media text — one file each. The Posting page also has Download for yourself with Cover, Texts, Reel.
• Files: «name (cutumbo.com).mp4», the same name .png, and .txt with the texts for all four networks. Video: H.264, up to 1080×1920, up to 30 fps, about 10 Mbit/s.
• Progress: Preparing audio → Rendering the reel → Finishing the file → Drawing the cover. On a phone, keep the screen on and stay in the browser while it renders. Computer: Cancel stops it.
• Done: Done, with where the files went; Copy the report copies a technical report for support.

12. Posting to social networks (computer)

The Posting page has four cards: YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok. Tick the networks, pick When to publish, then Publish now or Schedule.

• Scheduling: from 5 minutes to 72 hours ahead. A time that is too close goes out as soon as possible. Up to 5 scheduled reels at once. File up to 400 MB.
• Before sending, a window The reel will go here shows where it goes: Yes, publish / Edit. Then Building the reel… and Sending the reel… n% — keep the page open until it says sent. After that the page can be closed; the reel goes out on its own.
• The reel is stored on Cutumbo's server only until it is published, then deleted.
• Statuses: Scheduled, Getting ready, Uploading the reel, The network is processing the reel, Published, Not published, Not sure the reel went out — check on the network itself, Cancelled, Removed.
• Scheduled list: Open, Cancel (while scheduled), Delete (Facebook and Instagram, published reels; YouTube opens YouTube Studio to delete; TikTok — only in TikTok itself). Earlier posts are under Published earlier in each card.
• Card buttons: Change (another account), Reconnect (when the network stopped letting Cutumbo in), Disconnect (scheduled reels for it are cancelled).
• Help with setup → Copy the question for AI copies a ready prompt for your AI assistant.

YouTube

• Connect YouTube opens a Google window. Choose the Google account that holds your channel and keep every permission box ticked. Google shows account names, not channel names: if the wrong channel appears, press Change and pick another account.
• Per reel: Who can see it on YouTube (Everyone / Only me) and Is the reel made for kids? (Yes / No — required).
• While Cutumbo's YouTube review is pending, uploads may arrive as private: Uploaded to YouTube as private: the app is still going through the YouTube review.

Facebook and Instagram

• One Connect window through Facebook connects both. Cutumbo never sees your password; access can be removed in Facebook settings → Business integrations.
• Facebook forbids apps to post to a personal profile. You need a Facebook Page. Your personal profile is shown greyed out.
• For Instagram, the Instagram account must be a professional account (business or creator) linked to that Page.
• Several Pages → Which Page should we connect?; a Page showing «Instagram: @…» will also publish to that Instagram.
• Facebook: Who can see it — Everyone, or Draft — only Page admins can see it. Facebook accepts reels up to 90 seconds.
• Instagram does not let apps post privately — everyone will see the reel.
• Publishing works for accounts approved in the Cutumbo app while Meta reviews it.

TikTok

• Connect opens TikTok's sign-in window; access can be removed in TikTok settings (connected apps).
• Nothing is pre-selected, by TikTok's rules: choose Who can see it (Everyone, Friends, Followers, Only me — as your account allows), what to allow (Comments, Duets, Stitches), and whether the reel is commercial (Disclose commercial content → Your brand / Branded content). Branded content cannot be «Only me».
• Until TikTok has reviewed Cutumbo, posting works only to a private account with «Only me»: TikTok → Settings and privacy → Privacy → Private account.
• After publishing, TikTok processes the reel for a few minutes before it appears. A TikTok post can be deleted only in TikTok.

13. Analytics

Analytics is not available yet. The Analytics tab on the computer shows sample numbers only (Sample numbers — real ones are not connected yet).
